SOAR (Services Optimizing Academic Reach) is a collaborative education initiative striving to have a collective and measurable impact on educational outcomes in West Dallas schools.
The initiative, with SWD serving as the backbone organization, strategically and collaboratively brings together volunteers from a large Dallas church, strategic education partners, and four SWD education-based Ministry Partners to offer a broad range of services in order to achieve greater social and educational change, working to holistically transform education in West Dallas. This collaborative is based on the idea that the whole is stronger than the individual parts.
SOAR has a long-range perspective and began with an elementary school focus in fall 2012 and plans to extend the model horizontally and vertically, ultimately offering services to all Dallas ISD schools in West Dallas (elementary, middle and high schools).
Currently, SOAR is at Amelia Earhart Elementary and C.F. Carr Elementary.
